Meet Our Newest Charity Partners: Building Community Together, Part 1

At Community Thrift Store (CTS), every item you donate has the power to create real change. When you drop off gently used goods and designate one of our charity partners, we sell those items in our store and send the proceeds directly to that organization. It’s a simple, sustainable way to give back — turning secondhand treasures into vital funding for causes that matter.
We’re thrilled to introduce the 12 newest nonprofits to join our growing network of partners. Each is doing remarkable work in the Bay Area and beyond, and we’re proud to help support their missions.
Episcopal Impact Fund

Episcopal Impact Fund helps break the cycle of poverty across the Bay Area by expanding access to dignified housing and essential resources for families and youth. Through trust-based philanthropy, advocacy, and community partnerships, the organization works to build a more equitable future where every person has the opportunity to thrive.
“We chose to partner with Community Thrift Store San Francisco because their mission aligns so strongly with ours—reinvesting resources back into the community to support dignity, resilience, and opportunity for all.”
— Christina Alvarez, Executive Director
Episcopal Impact Fund recently awarded more than $800,000 in grants for housing security and poverty relief, extending vital support to neighbors across the Bay Area. Learn more about their work at episcopalimpact.org.
Mariposa Kids

Located in San Francisco’s Mission District, Mariposa Kids offers a creative, play-based after-school program that encourages children to learn, connect, and grow. Their team fosters self-expression and a sense of belonging through outdoor play, art, and community collaboration.
“Partnering with CTS allows us to provide our community with another way to move our mission forward that is in line with our community-centered values.”
In 2025, Mariposa Kids expanded their impact with the launch of their new Children & Family Program — opening clubhouses to families with children ages 2–5 for free play and social connection. Visit their website to see how they’re building joyful, inclusive spaces for San Francisco families.
Creativity Explored

For over four decades, Creativity Explored has partnered with artists with developmental disabilities to create, exhibit, and sell their art. The result is a powerful celebration of expression and inclusion — transforming lives and enriching the community.
“Community Thrift Store is a beloved part of the Mission community. We are proud to partner with them and be part of their network of local charity partners doing meaningful work.”

Through hands-on learning, First Exposures helps young artists see both the world — and themselves — in a new light. Learn more about their photography programs and exhibitions at firstexposures.org.
La Raza Community Resource Center

For 55 years, La Raza CRC has been a cornerstone for Latino, immigrant, and low-income families in San Francisco. They provide essential services — from food distribution and rental assistance to immigration legal aid — empowering individuals to access resources, realize their power, and thrive.
“We love your mission of giving back to nonprofits and even shop at CTS for office supplies and furniture!”
— Ethena Caldas, Chief of Staff
La Raza CRC shares CTS’s commitment to uplifting communities by hiring locally and supporting families in need. Visit larazacrc.org to explore their programs and view their 2024 Annual Report.
Double Union

A feminist makerspace in San Francisco for women and nonbinary people, Double Union provides a supportive environment where creativity and community flourish. Members share tools, skills, and ideas in a welcoming space that encourages collaboration and innovation.
“CTS facilitates creatively reusing things by selling them at affordable prices, which is well aligned with Double Union’s mission of repair, reuse, and creation.”
This volunteer-run nonprofit offers sliding-scale access to its space and hosts workshops, meetups, and art events. Visit doubleunion.org to learn more about their mission and upcoming opportunities to get involved.
